Looking for ways to help your co-workers?

At EMC, we work on events and projects big and small, and sometimes we need a little help from our colleagues to pull them off. On this page, you'll find opportunities to volunteer for events and projects divisionwide like commencement, the CHoR Tower opening, first-day-of-classes content gathering and everything in between. It's a great way to get to know other division members, have fun and learn a thing or two.

Current opportunities

May Commencement 2025: Amy Kelly and the Events Team are looking for volunteers to help at commencement the morning of May 10. Jobs include duties such as pulling the string to drop the balloons, helping students check-in when they arrive, being a "graduate room marshal" and more. Email Amy at askelley@vcu.edu to request access to the sign-up sheet so you can learn more and explore the options.

Community service opportunities

There are also lots of ways to lend a hand outside of our division and make a difference in the community at large, and many of us in EMC have annual Community Service Leave.

In this Google doc, you will find a list of local nonprofits and information about their volunteer opportunities. Many of them welcome groups or teams and have volunteer availability on weekdays.
